A Conference of Birds takes Flight

Conference of Birds is a modern menswear line launched last year by the talented designer and stylist, Andrew Holden. He expertly blends the essence of British tailoring and American work wear to create new modern classics with impeccable
detailing and masculine color palettes. Mr. Peacock was initially drawn to the poetic name of this menswear line, but after seeing the Fall 2008 premier collection he became enchanted with the clothes themselves. The name, Conference of Birds, comes from a medieval Persian poem about a journey of 30 birds seeking enlightenment. How appropriate for Mr. Holden’s poetic and very wearable menswear label. And of course, Mr. Peacock is quite fond of the Conference of Bird's logo (see at right)—a stylized peacock feather!

The Fall 2008 Conference of Birds collection had so many wonderful pieces—each one could easily become your favorite item in your wardrobe. I know everyone is looking forward to spring, however, right now you can purchase many of these modern classics from the Fall 2008 Collection at rock bottom sale prices.

Mr. Peacock loves the tuxedo inspired pleating on this blue linen Faulkner shirt from the Fall 2008 Collection. Buy one here.

This cotton Hemingway shirt, with a button tab collar, could easily become a year round staple in any gentleman’s wardrobe. Buy one here.

The elegant Nickleby shirt, with white button tab collar and white cuffs, could be worn casual or dressy. Buy one here.

Conference of Birds also has some wonderful silk ties. They're on sale here.

Mr. Peacock wants to wrap himself in this wonderful over-sized version of a cable knit fisherman’s sweater. And I love the charcoal gray color too! Buy one here.

Conference of Birds Spring/Summer 2009 Collection didn’t disappoint either—so many wearable pieces that would be a nice addition to any peacock’s wardrobe (see images below).

Conference of Birds adds clever detailing to classic pieces—like the side pockets on this men's shirt.

Mr. Peacock likes the seam detailing on the back yoke of this blazer (above left), and the wonderful lighweight trench coat (above right), with epaulettes and belted cuffs at the sleeves.

The 2009 Spring/Summer Collection also had a splash of color with tie dye pieces in buttery yellow and soft teal (see above).

Conference of Birds
menswear could lead any modern gentleman to sartorial enlightenment. Take a peak at Mr. Holden’s beautifully designed Conference of Birds Autumn/Winter 2009 collection here, and don't miss the 2008 Fall sale here. What's your favorite Conference of Birds piece?
